The One - December 2022

The One - December 2022

Quite possibly the best 'The One' box we've ever assembled - Merry Christmas y'all!

This release features a range of stand-out brews from North America, culminating in very rare bottle from Side Project. Firstly, this is the first (and potentially only) time they've reached our shores and secondly, the bottle included is 1 of only 48 in the entire country and completely exclusive to this 'The One' box.

Not to be out done are some of our favourite Aus breweries, including a very special Carwyn Cellars 15th birthday collab with Fox Friday with huge West Coast classic vibes. Enjoy!

What's in the box:

Anchorage • Maelstrom

Hazy IPA | 6.4% | Anchorage, AK America

Releasing their first beer in 2011, their focus was on wild ales and big stouts aged in oak. But that’s not to say they don’t also brew a damn good IPA! This release was brewed in collaboration with a knife maker from Olympia, Mareko Maumasi, and features some of the hottest brewing additions including Thiol boosting yeast and Phantasm powder, for enhanced hop aroma and flavour.

Anchorage • Air Whale Hell

Barrel Aged Imperial Stout | 15.0% | Anchorage, AK America

This imperial Stout was aged in Missouri oak, then finished on Thai bananas, Tahitian vanilla beans and coffee. Anchorage stouts are particularly sought after, with their beers often selling out within the hour, so we count ourselves very lucky to be one of the small handful of countries to get their beer in!

Bottle Logic • The Forth Wall

Almond Joy Imperial Pastry Stout | 10.0% | Anaheim, CA America

From Anaheim, California, Bottle Logic skilfully brew all manner of beer styles, with their stouts in particular being some of the most highly sought-after beers in the world! This Almond Joy-inspired sweet stout is a rich and decadent treat, brewed with lactose, cacao nibs, fresh and toasted coconut, with sliced and roasted almonds.

Good Land • Southern Jaw

West Coast IPA | 7.1% | Traralgon, VIC Australia

These guys have put down roots in Traralgon in Gippsland and boast some real brewing pedigree – Jimmy cut his teeth brewing at Stewart Brewing (Scotland) and De Molen (Netherlands) With this brew, they’re bringing it back to the good old days of punchy West coast IPA’s and we couldn’t be happier. This brew is chock-a-block full of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and Citra for big, dank hop characters.

Dollar Bill • Sleigh Rider

Sour Quad | 8.7% | Ballarat, VIC Australia

Dollar Bill takes inspiration from winemakers and brewers from around the world, producing mixed cultured barrel aged beers out of their blendary in Ballarat. This festive limited release was brewed with a complex malt line-up, including honey for a Braggot-style twist, dry hopped with Vic Secret then refermented with Brett Lambicus and bacteria for a bright acidity. What a way to celebrate the season!

Weldwerks • Juicy Bits

Hazy IPA | 6.7% | Greely, CO America

This is Weldwerks’ flagship IPA and the beer that got them on the map! This year they even celebrated 1,000 batches of this beer being made. A JUICY New England style IPA featuring Mosaic, Citra and El Dorado for big citrus and dank hop characters. The brewers have focused attention on water chemistry to make the mouth feel soft and pillowy.

Finback • Helo

Double IPA | 8.5% | Glendale, NY America

Founded in 2011, Finback Brewery has become one of the most popular breweries in the East Coast, with their IPAs regularly getting a lot of attention and praise from the American beer enthusiasts. In this box you’ll find another full flavoured hop drop from them! This double IPA is packed full of Citra, Nelson, Idaho 7 and Belma hops for a hazy hop bomb.

Finback • Coconut Drip

Imperial Stout | 11.0% | Glendale, NY America

The first of Finback’s ‘Drip’ series to hold off on the barrel aging to make this version lighter and with a touch more carbonation. That said, it still packs a punch with the addition of coconut, vanilla, peanut butter and coffee from their own roastery, Invisible force, and finishing at 11%!

Fox Friday x Carwyn Cellars • Time Traveller

West Coast Double IPA | 8.5% | Hobart, TAS Australia

A big, old school, resinous and piney Double West Coast IPA with the whole gamut of ‘’C’’ hops with a late dry hop of Vic Secret give it an Aussie twist! The Time Traveller is a homage to the old school American IPAs that made us fall in love with craft beer. The Time Traveller is truly that. An echo from times past when beers were bolder. An assertive bitterness balances perfectly with a rich malty body. A pithy citrus come on followed quickly by an intense pine with light floral notes reminiscent of the hops of yesteryear. A clean yeast character keeps the hops in the spotlight.

Working Title • The Place Beyond the Pines

Spiced Christmas Ale | 10.0% | Newstead, QLD Australia

This unique beer was brewed using Australian pine tips and branches to produces complex flavours of wood and eucalyptus, taking inspiration from an old Scandinavian brewing technique. A big malt base is evident to carry the big flavours of the pine addition as well as the hop trio of Simcoe, Chinook and Columbus to keep the bitterness up. Who needs a Christmas tree with this in the fridge!

Fox Friday • Whip It Good 2

Pilsner | 5.0% | Hobart, TAS Australia

Since opening in 2016, Fox Friday have been consistently churning out banger after banger from their Tasmanian brewery and, lucky for us here in Melbourne, they’ll be opening a brand-new Brewpub in the heart of Richmond. Whip it Good 2 is the second version (back by popular demand) of their pilsner that’s been hopped with Nelson Sauvin. Enjoy this traditional style with a new-world twist!

Side Project • Single Farm Cascade

Farmhouse Pale Ale | 6.0% | Saint Louis, MO America

Side Project have long been regarded as one of top producers of wild ales and barrel aged beers in the world. Boasting 4 of the top 10 highest rating beers in the world on Untappd, we’re stoked to be able to include this beer in December’s box. Only 48 of these bottles arrived in Australia, and they are now in your hands! Side Project sourced Cascade from Freestyle Farms in New Zealand for dry hopping to compliment their house mixed culture, then let this bottle condition for a spritzy carbonation.
